Non-Profit Professional Director Designation

A comprehensive designation track for non-profit directors, culminating in a professional designation that affirms one’s expertise in NPO governance.
 

This is a 40-hour micro-certificate pathway covering
the fundamental principles of non-profit governance.

This program provides a thorough introduction to board roles and responsibilities, governance structures and effective board practices.

 

Participants learn about topics such as

  • the board–chief executive partnership,

  • duties of board directors,

  • recruiting and orienting new directors,

  • committee structures

  • and healthy board dynamics.

Contemporary issues are also explored to prepare board directors and officers for modern governance challenges :

  • purpose-driven board leadership,

  • generative governance,

  • diversity/equity/inclusion

  • and ethical decision-making

Upon completion of this initial designation pathway, graduates receive a micro-certificate and the “NPPD.d” designation, recognizing their grounding in non-profit board governance.
